Address look up by postcode in a journey

Hi Guys, The new 'Address' Field type in Journeys is brilliant, but - as way of a small improvement which could have a massive benefit.
Do you think it would be possible please to add the: Google Places Auto-Complete API to this field as a default, then this way any user would be able to call on the postcode and google database when entering new address data in to forms/journeys.
We use it on our own webforms and it works perfectly. I think there is a very small cost if the use of the API is over 14,000 calls per month - but whether this could be set at a company level using our own Google API accounts would be interesting, but if so any costs could be footed by the flg user.

Add validation services to the interface

Build in validation services. Commonly requested:
- Address/postcode lookup
- Phone number validation
- Email address validation
- Account numbers and sort code verification
This could be direct or via. an integration with services like Fetchify and Data8

Hi Guys,
Any update on when we might be able to get this functionality (google address lookup)- its been over two years since the original post.
I'm not suggesting this is the most important feature to go live, however I do see this as being a feature that has the maximum return/benefit for what is seemingly the least amount of work.
Any update on this would be great, even if its a solid no - then we can think about any possible work-arounds.
The use of this kind of feature is so prolific these days that even when asking Customers for an address - their behaviours have changed to match the expectation where they essentially now just start by giving their postcode as they assume that is all we need to get their full address.

Chris

Hello Chris Jones,
Thanks for following this up with us.
At the moment, there's no plan to do this. We have a sister company in ClearCourse called Fetchify who offer address and postcode lookup services amongst other things so if we did integrate then it would be with them rather than Google. We have done a lot of data analysis on this and are taking small steps forward with Fetchify but the volume of usage would be low across our customers base which is why it has not made it to the top of our priorities yet. We will be surfacing Fetchify in our integrations page soon and positioning as a service our customers may like to use from their own landing pages and webforms and then monitoring the data moving forward.
Regards,
Mike

Surprised this hasn't had more votes given the high dependancy on address accuracy to most businesses.

Chris Jones: Yes this will be a great function. It may seem like a small thing however accuracy is key when dealing with client information.

Nice suggestion, Chris. As you know "data validation" is something we have been researching - this loosely comes under that but also gives speed benefits.

Mike Emery: Thanks Mike, we use it all the time on our customer facing webforms (pre FLG) and it works superbly well, however - it takes some work to get the address 'parts/lines' to line up in the correct field 'areas' - well at least it does for me, not you guys I'm sure.
But from a user point of view, its significantly better - plus, also through the API we can calculate the distance between 2 entered addresses too, which saves time and helps us in our line of work.
Another smaller benefit for later down the road would be a little snippet image of the google map/area in the FLG Customer Record panel, it's always nice to see where an address physically is on a map, or even the street view image of the address - or if not, even just a quick hyperlink tag next to the postcode to load google maps to that postcode on a map in a new tab.
